Lectures, workshops, wine tastings, cooking shows and culinary presentations will be part of the two day programme. A unique meeting point for the professionals
(wine producers, distributors, oenologists, hotel and restaurant owners and f&b managers, sommeliers, journalists), as well as an exceptional opportunity for wine connoisseurs, gourmets and foodies to taste high quality wines, the best gastronomic products, and culinary specialties of renowned chefs.

Wishing to keep the high level of the festival, we will carefully select the producers who will present their wines at the ZAGREB WINE GOURMET FESTIVAL 2010. A limited number is a guarantee for the high quality of the manifestation, as well as a response to the increasing demand of the Croatian market.
The visitors (3500 people) and the press, both Croatian and international, have elected unanimously the ZAGREB WINE GOURMET FESTIVAL as the most important wine event in Croatia.

Izložba je otvorena 11.02. u 18.00 sati uz nazočnost brojnih gostiju povezanih s Istrom. Osim vrhunskih istarskih vina posjetitelji mogu pogledati fotografije s motivima vinograda i grožđa malvazije poznatog fotografa Renca Kosinožića.

Nakon svečanog otvorenja prisutnima su ponuđene gastro delicije te su se kušala vina i rakije članova Vinistre. Očekuje se da će izložbeni prostor posjetiti od 700 000 do 1 000 000 posjetitelja. Prostor ispred samog ulaza na Autobusni kolodvor iskorišten je za promociju i najavu izložbe Vinistra 2009.

Vinistra applied to the Ministry for funding for two of its projects: “Development of the Association’s brand and promotion of Istrian wines” which was granted 120,000 Kuna, and “Education of the members of the Association” which was granted 15,000 Kuna.

The Ministry letter quotes that the model of rural development is intended to hold the population in rural areas, equalize the quality of life in rural and urban areas, promote the return of the population from urban to rural areas, increase the competitiveness of production and create a greater income for farmers.

Prof. Zvonimir Ostojić, Ph.D. talked about grassing of the vineyard as one of the most important farming measures in certain farming fields.

Goran Ostojić, B.Sc. gave a lecture on the vine protection programme for 2009, and Margita Jurašin, B.Sc. explained to the winegrowers and winemakers the business relations of the company Fitopromet Ltd. with producers.

The Festival was attended by more than 200 exhibitors – producers of and traders in wine, pršut, oil, kulen, pastry and other products from the EU and surrounding countries.

The IQ designation is exclusively intended to mark wines of superior quality, produced from the Malvasia grapes. It guarantees an active wine supervision system from the production conditions and procedures and wine quality to the designation awarding procedure and control of its use. The system is the only such system of wine quality control in Croatia.

Vinistra is not a selling exhibition. Its aim is to present wine, olive oil and pršut producers who, apart from making new business contacts, learn about the most recent trends and facilities in production and promotion.

The interests of winemakers was drawn to expert lectures on the Winegrowing and Winemaking Sector in Croatia and on the Reform of the Wine Sector in the EU. Other visitors were mostly interested in attending guided tasting of the wines awarded this year in the Vinistra competition part, tasting of wines coming from the Region of Dubrovnik and Neretva and presented by the “Plavac mali” Association and tasting of collection wines (including one Malvasia from 1997) under the guidance of Sandi Paris, top Croatian sommelier and Education Manager with the Croatian Sommelier Club.

On the last day of the Vinistra exhibition, which is traditionally reserved for business partners, the tasting of the wine Muškat Ruža Porečka (the Rose of Poreč Muscat) was organized. The Muškat Ruža Porečka is also the name of the project led by the Institute of Viticulture and Enology of the Faculty of Agronomy in Zagreb – Prof. Bernard Kozina, Ph.D., Marko Karoglavi, M.Sc. and assistants.

This year, for the first time in Vinistra, in cooperation with the company RadinR and under the patronage of Electrolux Professional the Vinistra Gourmet was inaugurated and immediately recorded an extraordinary interest of the visitors who could taste first-rate culinary creations demonstrated to the public by the chefs of the most renowned Istrian restaurants.
